Best wishes for 2021

Our best wishes to you and yours for a safe, happy, and hopeful 2021. We know that these are difficult times, but let us be hopeful that we will soon see an end to this dreadful pandemic.

We want to use this opportunity to reassure you of our commitment for the safety and wellbeing of our staff and passengers. We have, not even for a moment, grew tired of our responsibility to prevent and stop the spread of Covid-19. This has been our top priority since the onset of this pervasive viral infection.

Inasmuch as we are hopeful for a better year, we are acutely aware of the fact that hope alone, is not sufficient to prevent the spread of Covid-19. We each need to play an active part in keeping ourselves, as well as those around us, safe. At Gautrain, in addition to other measure already in place, we are working hard to ensure that:

  • The health and safety of our staff is not compromised. Hence, upon returning to work earlier this month, each of our customer-facing staff have been tested for Covid-19 before resuming their duties. Staff are also temperature-screened on a daily basis before they continue their duties.
  • Trains are sanitised at terminal stations at the end of each trip.
  • Trains, stations, and buses are cleaned and disinfected frequently throughout the day, as well as at night, when trains return to the depot.
  • At stations and onboard the buses, alcohol-based hand sanitisers are available to passengers. Please sanitise your hands when entering and exiting the station and take every opportunity to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Staff and passengers must wear a face mask. Remember, to keep your face mask on throughout your journey.

Some guidelines for travelling on the Gautrain:

  • Stay at home: If you are feeling unwell, awaiting your Covid-19 test result or suspect that you have contracted Covid-19. In so doing, you will help prevent the spread of Covid-19. By helping to curb the spread of the virus, you will help save lives and livelihoods.
  • Stay updated: Check the train schedule at https://www.gautrain.co.za/ or on the Gautrain App to avoid an extended waiting period at a station.
  • Payment method: Top-up your Gautrain Swift card at https://www.gautrain.co.za/ or use the Gautrain App. This is safer and more convenient than queuing at a station. Alternatively, use your Contactless bank card or Samsung Pay to travel.
  • Travel needs: Carry a spare face mask/s in a sealed bag, just in case you need a quick replacement. Always carry a hand sanitiser with you in the eventuality that you may suddenly need to sanitise your hands.
  • Social distancing guidelines: Always adhere to social distancing protocols at stations and when you are onboard trains and buses.
