Gautrain Covid-19 Vaccination Rewards

Terms and Conditions
The Gautrain Covid-19 Vaccination Rewards Promotion (“the Promotion”) is designed to reward Gautrain customers who have vaccinated, with a voucher from a selected retailer, when purchasing a Weekly or Monthly Train Product online. In order to qualify for a voucher, Gautrain customers can visit the Gautrain website to upload their Covid-19 vaccination card online. Customers can also go to the nearest Gautrain station or inside the train to scan a QR barcode and upload their Covid-19 vaccination card online. The following are the terms and conditions applicable to the Promotion:

  1. The Promotion is valid from 10 September 2021 to 31 December 2021 to any customer who has received either the 1st or 2nd shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine or their Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine.
  2. The Promotion is only applicable when purchasing Monthly and Weekly Train Products on the Gautrain website at gautrain.co.za or on the Gautrain app. Any purchases at the stations will not qualify for this Promotion. Monthly and Weekly Train Product fares are available on the Gautrain website.
  3. Monthly and Weekly Train Products can only be loaded onto Gautrain Swift cards and cannot be purchased or uploaded to Contactless bank cards.
  4. The customer must ensure that contact details, with valid South African mobile number and personal information have been captured correctly upon registration on the Gautrain website. The information on the vaccination card will be validated against the customer’s Gautrain registered profile. Gautrain will not be held liable for the loss or claim of any vouchers, if the contact details have not been captured correctly.
  5. For a Weekly Train Product purchase, you will qualify for a R50 voucher.
  6. For a Monthly Train Product the following applies:
  • Monthly Train Product value of R2693 and below, you will qualify for a R200 voucher.
  • Monthly Train Product value higher than R2880, you will qualify for a R250 voucher.
Customers purchasing their Monthly Train Product online will also receive their Rider Rewards voucher of up to 10% of the value of their Monthly Train Product until 27 September 2021.

  1. The voucher received will be valid for 60 (sixty) days from date of receipt, and if not redeemed within this period, the voucher will be forfeited. Vouchers can be redeemed instore or online at selected partners.
  2. Please note that vouchers will only be issued from Mondays – Fridays between 06h00 to 18h00 to the mobile number that has been registered on the Gautrain website. For any purchases made outside of these specified times, vouchers will issued on the following business working day.
  3. Gautrain does not take any responsibility for the quality of the products and/or services offered by the selected partners.
  4. If a customer requests a refund on a Monthly or Weekly Train Product, the value of the voucher, as well as the standard Gautrain refund admin fee (currently R19) will be deducted and the balance refunded to the customer.
  5. All standard Gautrain rules are to be complied with at all times. Penalty fees may be applied should passengers fail to adhere to the Gautrain rules. Please refer to the Gautrain website for the Travel Rules: https://www.gautrain.co.za/commuter/generalinformation.
  6. This Promotion is not open to any directors, members, partners, employees or agents of the Gautrain Management Agency, Bombela Operating Company, Bombela Concession Company or any of their sub-contractors or affiliates; or any supplier of goods or services in connection with this Promotion.
  7. Gautrain complies with provisions of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). None of the personal details of any customer in this Promotion will be disclosed or used for any purpose other than for entry into the Promotion or any opt-in services offered upon registration. All record of a customer’s Covid-19 vaccination card will be discarded according to the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
  8. Gautrain reserves the right to withdraw, postpone, amend or suspend this Promotion at any time and for any reason which may be deemed necessary, without prior notice. This Promotion may also be amended at any time due to Covid-19 regulations as issued by the Government of South Africa.
  9. By participating in this Promotion, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms and conditions.
How will this Promotion work?

Step 1 – Register an online account and link your Gautrain Swift Card online

If you are a first-time user, purchase a Gautrain Swift Card at any Gautrain station and register an online account on the Gautrain website at https://www.gautrain.co.za/register. Link your Gautrain Swift Card to your online profile and ensure that your contact details have been captured correctly.

Step 2 – Purchase your Monthly or Weekly Train Product online

To qualify for this Promotion, you have to purchase your Monthly or Weekly Train Product online, either on the Gautrain website at www.gautrain.co.za or on the Gautrain app.

Once a valid Monthly or Weekly Train Product has been purchased, the purchase will be validated against your online Gautrain profile.

Step 3 – Provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination card

Upload proof of your Covid-19 vaccination card by either visiting the Gautrain website at www.gautrain.co.za, or scanning a QR barcode at your closest Gautrain station or inside the train. Once proof of Covid-19 vaccination card has been received and your first valid purchase has been made, you will receive an SMS/text message within 24 hours (Mondays – Fridays 06h00 – 18h00 only).

Step 4 – Receiving your voucher

The SMS/text message sent to your registered mobile phone will contain a unique code that should be used to redeem your voucher. The SMS will be sent to the mobile number that you have registered on the Gautrain website. In the event of a delay in receipt of the voucher SMS, the customer must enquire or check with their respective mobile network provider.

Step 5 – Using your voucher

You can only use the voucher by redeeming the qualified value off your purchase at the selected partner. The voucher may be used instore or online.
