The Gautrain 50% off train service promotion (“Promotion”) will take place every month for a trial period, starting the weekend of 14 January 2023 and 15 January 2023. Passengers will be offered 50% off their train fare during the weekend of the Promotion and may travel by train to as many stations as they would like to, excluding OR Tambo. Standard bus and parking fares apply. Passengers participating in the promotion are eligible for discounts offered by the participating partners, subject to the terms and conditions below.
Terms and Conditions
  1. The Promotion is applicable to every second weekend of every month (both Saturday and Sunday).
  2. The 50% off train fare discount is applicable only to train fares. Standard parking and bus fares will apply.
  3. To participate in this Promotion, each passenger is required to be in possession of a valid Gautrain Swift Card or a contactless bank card. Gautrain Swift Cards are available for purchase at all Gautrain stations at a cost of R19 each.
  4. Passengers are required to tag in and out using the same card to avoid penalty fees.
  5. The Promotion does not apply to weekly and monthly products. Passengers must either load value onto their Gautrain Swift Card if need be or use their contactless bank card to qualify for the Promotion. A minimum value of R16 is required to be loaded on the Gautrain Swift Card.
  6. A special bus service may be made available to the following destinations, during their respective operating hours, subject to these destination’s agreement to participate in this Promotion. Standard bus fares will apply:

      Up to two kiddies (aged 17 and under) per family enter for free

  7. To qualify for discounts offered by our partners, passengers must collect a Gautrain branded wrist band which will be made available at participating Gautrain stations and present same to the partners to qualify for the discounts.

  9. Bombela Concession Company, the Gautrain Management Agency, the Bombela Operating Company, and their respective sub-contractors, affiliates, and agents (The Gautrain Companies) shall not be liable, to the extent permissible by law, for any loss, injury and / or damage of whatsoever nature and howsoever arising, suffered, or incurred by any participant in this Promotion.
  10. In accordance with the South African laws, the Gautrain Companies’ confidentiality policies and practices, none of the details of any participants in this Promotion will be disclosed or used for any purposes other than for entry into the Promotion.
