Gautrain Precautionary Measures

With Gauteng being the epicentre of the third wave of COVID-19 infections, it goes without saying that the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and passengers remains our top priority.

We remain ever-more vigilant as we tirelessly implement various measures to curb the spread of the virus, and we ask that you remain equally careful. Remember to practice safe social distancing, and to wear your mask at all times whilst at stations, onboard the train/bus/midi-bus, or in any public area. Please continue to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or to sanitise your hands at regular intervals.

When using the Gautrain, the following is important to note:

  • Your face mask must cover both your nose and mouth and must be worn for your entire Gautrain journey.
  • Whilst alcohol-based sanitisers are available at all stations, we encourage you to carry your own hand sanitiser so that you may sanitise your hands along your journey.
  • Avoid touching surfaces. As far as possible, make use of a contactless bank card to tag in and out at stations. Alternatively, top up your Gautrain card on the website or app.
  • Maintain a safe social distance from staff and fellow passengers.
  • If you feel unwell, rather stay at home and contact your health practitioner. Avoid public spaces so you may help to curb the spread of the virus.

We wish you the best of health and look forward to having you on board. For more information on our detailed COVID-19 health and safety measures, please visit https://www.gautrainalerts.co.za/.
